CEO
With a background in Economics from the University of St. Gallen and experience working in a high-tech ETH spin-off, Yanik combines a strong foundation in business with a deep understanding of the startup landscape and a keen interest in cutting-edge technologies. He is driven by the mission to improve sleep quality through accessible and evidence-based solutions. Yanik leads the Tosoo team, ensuring the vision is translated into impactful outcomes.

Christoph Rupp

Lead Business Development
Christoph holds a degree in Economics from the University of St. Gallen and brings experience in supporting startups with their market entry. At Tosoo, he leads business development, leveraging his expertise to develop the go-to-market strategy. Deeply motivated by the potential to improve people’s lives through better sleep, he is committed to transforming scientific innovation into real-world impact.

Mitra Romina Karimi

Project Manager & Lead Design
With over 12 years of experience as a Textile Development Specialist and several years as a Project Manager, Romina has successfully led and executed complex design projects from concept to completion, consistently ensuring timely delivery and exceeding client expectations. Her expertise lies in orchestrating interdisciplinary teams, streamlining workflows, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance product quality and user experience. At Tosoo, Romina spearheads the corporate identity and oversees textile design development, ensuring that all projects align seamlessly with companies brand’s vision.

Sven Leach

Lead Neuroscience
With a strong academic background in Neurocognitive Psychology (M. Sc.) and sleep science (PhD), Sven has cultivated thorough expertise in sleep neuroscience. His doctoral research focused on phase-targeted auditory stimulation (PTAS) during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and its implications on memory consolidation. As Lead Neuroscience at Tosoo, he spearheads the development and refinement of EEG sensors integral to the headband and operates as the primary consultant on sleep-related topics.

Elias Wicki

Lead Software
With a M.Sc. in Robotics, Systems and Controls from ETH Zürich, Elias brings diverse engineering experience from startups to medium-sized companies in pharmaceuticals and insurance. His expertise encompasses implementing IoT fleet management systems, developing insurance claims processing databases, and creating test strategies for IoT logger production scaling. At Tosoo, Elias oversees the seamless operation of the entire tech stack. When navigating engineering challenges, he recharges through trail running, mountain cycling, or enjoying dinners with friends.

Laura Maria Ferster

Lead Product Development & Technology Manager
Equipped with two M.Sc. degrees in Engineering and a doctoral degree, Laura translates her clear understanding into actionable projects. With an additional six years of industry experience, Laura's engineering skills, research expertise, and product management insight enable her to navigate the complex challenges of modern technology landscapes, delivering products with impactful solutions. At Tosoo, Laura is leading the design and development of the new generation device.

Prof. Dr. Christian Baumann

Medical Co-Director USZ
Prof. Dr. Christian Baumann is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Zurich and Medical Co-Director at the University Hospital Zurich. His clinical and academic work spans over two decades, with a focus on sleep medicine, Parkinson’s disease, and neurodegenerative disorders. As part of his ongoing projects in the science of sleep, he collaborates with Tosoo on research initiatives exploring the intersection of technology and neuroscience. His work reflects a commitment to advancing understanding in how sleep affects brain health.

Prof. Dr. Reto Huber

Research group leader UZH
Prof. Dr. Reto Huber is Professor of Neuroscience and Chair of the Department for Women and Children at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich. With over two decades of experience in pediatric neurophysiology and developmental neuroscience, his research spans sleep, brain development, and cognitive function in children and adolescents. He leads a research group focused on electrophysiology and neuroimaging, and maintains a strong academic record with over 300 publications. In collaboration with Tosoo, he contributes to exploring how sleep-focused technologies may interface with neurodevelopmental science and long-term health.

Prof. Dr. Walter Karlen

Director Biomedical Engineering Ulm University
Prof. Dr. Walter Karlen is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Ulm University and Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. With a multidisciplinary background spanning engineering, medicine, and computer science, his research focuses on developing intelligent, point-of-care health technologies. He has held academic and research positions across Europe, Africa, and North America, and formerly led the Mobile Health Systems Laboratory at ETH Zurich. He collaborates with Tosoo in the pursuit of advancing sleep technology through scientific and clinical innovation.
